The Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is the state of the art technology in fluid flow research that enables visual and quantitative analysis of the flow field. Industrial/research level PIV system utilizes high-power lasers and cost around $100,000. The high cost and safety considerations - because of the use of high power Class IV lasers - prohibit adaptation of PIV systems in the US higher education system. The Interactive Flow Studies developed ePIV, an educational PIV system with the associated teaching/learning modules for universities and technical schools in the nation and around the World. We provide safe and affordable solutions to enhance the educational capabilities of our universities and technical schools in fluid mechanics and fluid science.

Worldwide. It has over 20 years of combined experience in fluid
mechanics, flow visualization, PIV techniques, education, laboratory
teaching practices, industrial fluid mechanics applications,
scientific visualization and software development.
Fluid mechanics is a highly visual subject. During the teaching
process one must take full advantage of this fact. Educational PIV
suite includes both hardware and software for fluid science and
engineering education at high-school, undergraduate and graduate
school levels. ePIV provides faculty the latest tecing tool allowing
them to acquire new knowledge and skills.
Due to its simplicity of operation and being highly visual the
Educational PIV technology can also be used at museums, science
centers and similar institutions to develop exhibits in science and
engineering. It can be used to promote fluid mechanics and science
in general even to non-science and non-engineering students. It could
be used as an effective recruitment tool to science and engineering
based subjects at the high school level.
